Large sized grip for easier alignment and control
Designed for strong and athletic throwers
Enhanced tolerance of variant wind conditions

A highly refined and precisely balanced throwstick which boasts of excellent flight stability and as near an ideal balance of both power and speed as we can muster, for the stronger, athletic thrower. The Central Desert Throwstick is a piece of history which has proven itself a capable hunting tool for generations. This is our premium version of this ancient mainstain.
The stout, streamlined design and finer edges deliver maximal overall energy transfer across the entire stick for a heavy penetrating blow at long ranges. The larger fluted grip size assists with precise stick alignment in throwing. Very long range straight flights are available if you have a good enough arm, but the "CDH" tends to be forgiving of weaker throws as well, albeit with shorter flight range results. Designed for the survivalist hunter who may target mobs of animals at extreme rangs, or anyone else that just wants a powerful long ranged kylie. Be careful to not lose this one in the distance. It doesn't ever seem to stop! To the thrower it looks like a flying insect buzzing in the distance when it's still defying gravity 131+ yards / 120+ meters out. This is our favorite model.
All I can say is awesome!! I have purchased at least 7 throwing sticks
from you and everyone has exceeded my expectations. Beautifully crafted
and tuned to fly a country mile. Thank you for your superlative products.
I only have 2 more throwing sticks to purchase before owning all the
throwing sticks you offer. Then I will need to get a few for my 2 grandsons
and 1 granddaughter.
Sincerely, - Mike S. (Virginia)

Hi I am very happy with my boomerang. I am considering getting several more and putting them to the test in the bush. Daniel N. (Australia)

I've been more than pleased with everything I've gotten from Ben! His attention to detail and quality isn't something I see in many craftsmen anymore. Every CDH I've bought from him flies true and straight nearly farther than you can keep track of it! Sven S. (Wisconsin)

Hello throwsticks team. I received my cd Hunter (705mm) a couple of weeks ago and am delighted with it. I intend to purchase the Kylie model in the near future as I think the lighter throw stick will suit me better. I'm a short man and light framed and I keep pulling a muscle to the left side of my stomach when throwing. I still manage to throw over 100 yards regularly and threw 115 yesterday. I hope to receive a mulga wood hunting Kylie from an aboriginal friend in Queensland Australia soon too (it is called wangan in his tribe). Anyways, I hope you continue to do well in your business and that other people get as much enjoyment from your product as I do. Thank you. Kind regards. - Ian D. (United Kingdom)

Wow! So I wanted to give you my first impressions. I just got the CDH in the mail today and I took it to a park to toss it around, nothing too serious as I'm just getting used to it. I'm really impressed with the design and I didn't expect it to make a cool noise too, ha ha! How do you make the groves in it? Is that what makes the noise? I was also surprised at how big it is, and the density. It could really do some damage if it hit a person or animal. - Craig H. (Washington, USA)

I recently purchased every item on the Throwsticks.com product range and couldn't be any happier. Ben and Carol were both a pleasure to deal and made everything very easy for the delivery of my order to Australia. The products themselves are exceptional in quality and craftsmanship and very professionally made. They all perform exactly as they were intended and I have had many enjoyable hours of throwing with many more to come! - Malachi Conway @ RockyInstincts (Queensland, Australia)

This thing is awesome. Seems to fly forever. Awesome customer service as well. Will definitely be buying another.
I would just inform you that the cdh is well arrived to me.
What a fantastic looking boomerang. I am now looking forward to the spring, so I can get out and try it. I just attach some picture of it, beside my Australian didgeridoo, lab made opal, and a original Australian aboriginal boomerang my grandfather brought home in the early fifties.
Best Regards, Martin Wessel (Denmark)

Hey my feedback is exact the back end that you hold should have more of a “cup” hand grip some of the aboriginal sticks I have fit comfortably in the hand and lets you feel the weight of the stick to know how you want to chuck it something I noticed the central desert hunter doesn’t have that back grip like I want but it throws great and def a serious throw stick hope my 2 cents help your craft. Everywhere I go people are intrigued with it and very captivated by the primitive mans tool of all time. Your professionalism and passion for it prove its worth getting one.

Hi Benjamin, and happy weekend! I have just come back from spending a couple of hours throwing the Karli and CDH, and I wanted to let you know I am a very happy guy. I was expecting the technique to be like throwing distance booms, but I found throwing kylies to be much easier in spite of the kylies weighing much more than a distance boom. Anyway after a few throws I was getting some very clean releases. The Karli makes a great warmup stick, it flys like it is on rails, and was good for a reliable 100 yards plus with very stable flights. I know I will order a second one so I can have a pair (I would like the paint to be as close as possible to the one I already have - should I just order Karli with the same options or should I email you a pic so you can match the paint on both Karlis?).
The CDH is a monster, it goes further than the Karli (do good out to 120 yards plus), but it retains more momentum into whatever it impacts. The airfoils are very clever (like adding anhedral by undercutting the trailing edge of a section of airfoil in the middle of the trailing wing, and that elbow airfoil - very clever). Not quite as forgiving as the Karli, but good lord that flight is amazing.
Anyway, file me under "very happy soon to be repeat customer". The kylie thing is familiar in some ways from my experience with boomerangs, but also different enough that learning a new skill is keeping me interested and engaged. I will order a second Karli this weekend, I am thinking about a Wirlki too, but is it different enough in the air that it should be my third kylie? If you were me would you order a second Karli or a Wirlki? Great problem to have, right? :)
Cheers! - Gary B. (Illinois, United States)

My wirlki and central desert hunter arrived yesterday and they beautiful and they fly great and far! They are real works of art! I will with out a doubt by more!
In the future I was wondering could you create a fantasy boomerang/throw stick? For example could you make Sokka's boomerang from Avatar: The Last Airbender? Here are some pictures.
Sincerely, - Patrick Y. (California, United States)

This is an incredible gift. I absolutely love the items. I've come to appreciate even more this primitive tool. Its amazing how well you've recreated this ancient technology and modernized it with a virtually indestructible material. The distance Ive been able to achieve is rapidly gaining towards that football field length. Ive posted this exact picture on many different places. Someone inquired about a left hand model and I told them to contact you.
Again, thank you. I’ll take some screen shots of where I posted and let you see for yourself. Sincerly, - Ken V. (Oregon, United States)

I'm really happy with both sticks. The central desert hunter really flies. Having fun chasing it down. The stinger also works great but gonna take some getting used to. The taper is a bit weird to grip and throw.
Really glad I got the paint job on the hunter as well. The white paint makes it bit easier to find. Which is good because I've managed to loose all of the long range ones a surprising amount of times. Lets just say I only throw one at a time now and don't start walking till I watch it hit the ground.
Do traditional throwsticks come in neon colours. A nice florescent orange or pink would show up nice I'm thinking. Sort of a cyber punk hunter product/paint job line I'm thinking.
Cheers - Kerry N. (Saskatchewan, Canada)
PS. Did I mention the hunter really covers ground, I'm really impressed with the distances I've reached in only two sessions. I'm assuming I will improve over time a bit as I get used to it.

Hi Benjamin,
The CDH arrived today, thanks and I did notice the weight difference but did not get a chance to try it out. I was out with the Karli yesterday and was experimenting with grip, wrist alignment and body position. I use a local soccer field and go odd hours to avoid people and their pets. My best throw distance was about 70 yards this time. I know I will improve with practice which is limited to conditions and people in the park. Thanks for all your great info which I will save as a guide.
The painting was done while watching TV, a project inspired by the pictures on your web page. Feel free to use them in anyway you want you and use my name if it helps, I would be honored. I did paint them for fun and to help locate them in the grass field after they land further and further away. I used regular Testors plastic model paint and it seems to be holding up well after letting it dry for a day or two.
When I make 100 yards, I will let you know. - David P (Virginia, United States)

These 2 Kylie's work I bought the desert hunter and the war club. Straight out of the box. First throw each not even trying to throw it hard. The desert hunter, straight and flew, easy over 60m. Can't wait to wind it up full pelt.
The war club, before I read the instructions, I threw it at close to 12o'clock. Went no worries for 40m.
Have to set up a target to give them a good work out. Would love to take them hunting Roo's.
Really easy throwing, could throw all day. Weight is perfect. Who would of thought that the years of playing cricket would be useful.
Thanks again! - Patrick B. (NSW, Australia)

Amazing experience with the rabbit stick. I feel like its a genuine weapon in hand to hand scenarios and im convinced of it's lethal potential for birds. The rabbit stick has some mass at contact worthy of a hunting tool. I think it could also do big damage to any windshield in the nearby parking lot. I was hoping for something serious and the rabbit stick is very serious. Simple and serious. The Desert Hunter is pure bad idea jeans in an urban area. Given I easily threw the rabbit stick over 90 yards, the flight path requirements of the Desert Hunter make it a special occasion toy exclusively. Possibly it could be safe on a polo ground early in the morning. Great fun. Pete P. (California)
