Order Handling Time

All orders for Throwsticks are hand crafted in our shop and hand tested and tuned in the great outdoors, at the mercy of the weather.... Knowing this, we strive to keep all of our models in stock and stay ahead of demand, as we are able. But there may be times and seasons when we are unable to keep up with unexpected or increased demand levels. Weather conditions as well as other considerations may affect us, as we strive to deliver the highest quality products possible in all cases. Additional Product Information

Our throwsticks are unique products. Please read below to learn more about what you should expect from them.

Throwstick Carving, Testing Range, And Accessibility

All throwsticks are individually carved to shape, and each one is unique, like a fingerprint. Minor variations in shape, carving, weight and length are normal.

Each throwstick is individually hand tested and tuned at the range specified for it, at the velocity and in the conditions in which it is thrown. We don't put our stamp on it until it passes our standards for straight flights at the test range stated for it. Yet this is an artform, not an exact science, and no two sticks are completely identical to each other.

Every thrower is different, and it is necessary for the thrower to learn to practice and adjust to the throwstick for best results. Kylie throwing is different from throwing any other object. Read our recommendations on our product page to start on what throwstick is right for you, and then learn to adjust to the throwstick you have chosen, whether it requires a softer or harder velocity throw than you anticipated to make it work its best. Throwsticks tend to be lenient of their starting velocity at mid-flight ranges, but soft tuned throwsticks are accessible to a wider range of individuals than hard tuned throwsticks are. Hard tuned throwsticks of heavier weight are most ideal for athletic and strong individuals who will give them the higher velocity they perform most ideally at.

All sports take practice and conditioning to perfect, and kylie throwing is no different. Throwsticks.com does not guarantee that every individual will be good at this sport. We can only certify that we have individually tested every single kylie we sell at the range stated for the model and thus we fully know what it is capable of before we ship it out. We have found that even when people are not highly skilled at kylie throwing, they are still generally impressed by the results they do achieve with practice. We are hopeful that this is the experience that all of our customers have. For best results, please refer to our Q + A page which has information on throwing technique. The potential of each throwstick is at the very least, the tested range stated for it.

We do our best to make our grips comfortable to throwers, but one of the things about throwsticks are that they are wings, not just handles. Every flight surface, including the grip, has an impact on the performance of the throwstick. The delicate balance and performance of the throwstick may be disturbed if the grip is altered too much from its basic shape. A hammer grip should be fairly comfortable for the majority of individuals with all of our models. Leather gloves may be worn to assist with comfort, if needed.

Throwstick Painting

Actual paint may not be the precise color that your monitor renders. All throwsticks are hand painted as pieces of art, thus minor variations, imperfections, and artistic expressions will occur. We have purposefully shown just a handful of these variations in the product photographs on our webpage in order to convey this fact. Consider your throwstick's paint job to be its unique finger print.

Bright or high contrast colors help to prevent a throwstick being lost at extreme distances. Bright colors such as orange show dirt and scratches much more quickly than other colors.

Our dot art is somtimes inspired by indigenous and tribal designs, but it should not be considered authentic. Benjamin Scott is not of Australian Aboriginal descent.

Our painted throwsticks are made from high impact black polycarbonate. Paint may fade off of throwsticks from repeated abrasive contact with soil, rocks or concrete. Wear areas around the edges where the throwstick is gripped by the hand can also occur. It is normal to have some minor amounts of paint wear off of the edges of the throwstick into the hand when brand new. For a smoother, more precise release from the hand, we ship our throwsticks with the paint on the palm side handle edge lightly sanded off.

Note that polycarbonate is chemically sensitive.  Do not spray paint your throwstick to change the color.  This can lead to chemical damage which can lead to the breakage of the stick.

A Note About Wind

Our throwsticks are tuned in still to nearly still conditions. We do not certify them until we've had the chance to test them in these conditions. Because throwsticks are airspeed dependent wings, a throw into the wind at a given velocity will have a higher airspeed then a throw away from the wind. This manifests itself most dramatically at longer ranges. A throw into the wind must be executed at a lower velocity to prevent it from rising above the target, and a throw down wind must be executed at a higher velocity. Hard tuned throwsticks may not hold altitude at long range if thrown with a backwind, but they are less prone to rise into a headwind. This makes them more ideal for long range stalking and hunting, as that activity is ideally done from down wind. Soft tuned throwsticks thrown at high velocity with a backwind may sail to much longer distances than is typical for even a hard tuned throwstick. Be aware of these environmental factors which affect the flight of all wings. When we state that a throwstick is straight and level tuned at a specific range, we are doing this testing in nearly still conditions. A slight breeze may limit or extend this range by altering the flight path of the throwstick, in actual use. If throwing on a windy day, do some experiments by throwing up and down wind and with sidewinds and you will begin to understand how wind affects the throwstick's flights.

Safety Warning

The following list of safety warnings, dangers and instructions is by no means exhaustive: Throwsticks are naturally dangerous and unavoidably unsafe.  They can deliver tremendous blunt force impact when swung or thrown. They can break bones, cause concussion, and cause serious injury or death at long or short range. They can also cause significant property damage. Before throwing a throwstick, know your target, its surroundings and beyond. Know how to properly throw your throwstick. Do not throw your throwstick when any person, animal or valuable property is anywhere in front of you or at any angle out to your sides. Do not strike objects with your throwstick at close range without wearing eye, hand and face protection. Throwsticks can bounce a considerable distance off of solid objects in an unpredictable fashion. Do not run or climb with a throwstick if it has one or more sharp ends, Do not throw your wood or polycarbonate throwstick at solid, hard or sharp objects, or you may risk damage to your throwstick, including breakage. Do not throw your polycarbonate throwstick at solid and hard objects at temperatures below freezing or there is a risk of breakage. Do not forcefully warp or bend your throwstick with extreme force, or attempt to use it to support your weight, as this may damage the tuning of the stick or cause breakage. Do not throw your throwstick towards any vulnerable property or property damage may result. Throwsticks have been known to break glass, penetrate walls and doors, and to shatter and splinter objects. Do not allow children to play with throwsticks unsupervised. Do not swing your throwstick near other people. Be aware that throwsticks may be thrown to curve off of a straight flight path and can go in upredictable directions in windy conditions, including being carried to long distances. Do not throw a wood or polycarbonate throwstick when people, animals or property are within 300 meters range in front of you.  Throwsticks with pointed ends can be a stabbing danger.  Do not accidentally put the point into your own eye when handling or throwing.  Pointed objecs can be fallen upon by the user so that it is a stabbing danger, therefore do not run with a pointed throwstick in hand or utilize it while riding a horse or bicycle.  Do not navigate difficult terrain or climb with a pointed throwstick so that you cannot possibly fall upon it.

Kylie Golf Safety Warning

We have specifically designed the Maverick And Mini-7 to enhance safety beyond what has previously been done in the sport of Kylie Golf by reducing weight, rounding and widening corners and edges, and tuning softly.  However, like discs, baseballs, returning boomerangs, or any other thrown, hard object, they can still cause injuries.  Please be very careful where you throw and what you throw at.  Your kylie may go a much greater distance than you might imagine it could, or curve its flight into different places than you intended for it to go.  It has a thin profile and may not be visible to the target.  It may get lost, damage something, or injure someone up to 200 meters away,, if it strikes a vulnerable part of the body such as the eye, face or throat.  Know your target, its surroundings and beyond, and do not throw where there is a risk to bystanders.  We recommend you start off by throwing at closer ranges until you get used to the range, power and behavior of your kylie.  A small kylie may look innocent in flight, but it can still cause eye and face injuries.  Do not play catch with kylie golf sticks.  Please protect the freedom of this unique sport by treating the environment you throw in with consideration and care.

Our Relationship With Indigenous and Tribal Peoples And The Artifacts And Wisdom From Ancestral Cultures

Throwsticks.com is a family owned and operated business operating out of California, in the United States of America. Our company is neither owned nor operated by anyone of Australian Aboriginal descent, nor anyone directly identified with any American Indian tribe.  Throwsticks.com makes no claim whatsoever that our products are made by Aborigines or American Indians in the present or the past. Our products are not authentic Australian Aboriginal nor Indian artifacts and we make no claim to their being such. Our products are hand made from modern materials, using modern methods and tools. Each one is stamped with our logo for identification.

Benjamin Scott is a primitive weapon's technology enthusiast who's spent his life making and learning to use primitive technologies from around the world.  He has had the honor to personally handle and examine hundreds of rare Aboriginal throwstick artifacts. he learned to make throwsticks through his study of physics as well as extensive field experimentation. Throwsticks.com does not make claim that any of our products are exact replicas of any historical artifacts. We are inspired by and have learned from these artifacts, but we have not attempted to precisely replicate any one of them. Our materials, methods and some features of our products are different than the original artifacts. Every model of throwstick on our website is our own design, even when we have closely followed an original artifact or class of artifacts in some features.

Throwsticks.com operates with the central goal of honoring the earth wisdom and survival skills of our ancestors of all tribes, peoples and cultures by promoting them and bringing them into a new age. The revitilization and celebration of ancient human technology, culture, art, and lifestyle is honoring to this past and a common heritage to all human beings which should be embraced by all for our future survival, regardless of national heritage, ethnicity, skin color, or recent history (we do not include the term “race” because it is a non-scientific political concept).  Earth skills are a shared human heritage for all peoples, everywhere, for we are all human beings.  It is our belief that by seeing the genuine genius of our ancestors or of those we may unfairly deem “primitive,” we can gain wisdom which will help us to navigate the future together.  In a modern world of continued genocide, theft, coercion and violence, cultural celebration and sharing must triumph over cultural eradication for human beings to continue to survive into the future.  We believe that for human cultures to survive past this age, they must bring out and share the best they have to offer from all ages and places that have come before.  Anyone capable of doing this should do so and join with others who are doing the same before this heritage is lost forever.  It’s our hope that our products will remind you of these things wherever they fly.  They truly are a symbol of the brilliance of independent human survival and the tragedy of its loss in a modern era in which we have largely lost this adult freedom.

Since its founding in February of 2017 through February of 2024, Throwsticks.com has been a proud sponsor of Survival International, the global movement for tribal people's rights, the only organization that champions tribal peoples around the world. Survival helps them defend their lives, protect their lands and determine their own futures. We hope you will not only purchase our rare and unique products, but also support our message and help to work for the survival, freedom and self determination of those who first orginated and developed primitive hunting tools - tribal peoples.  Throwsticks.com has ended any specific contracts with Survival in 2024 after 7 years of sponsorship in order to focus on other charitable donations and opportunities, but we hope you will consider visiting them and continuing to support the cause of tribal people's rights.

Influencer Hero Program Agreement

Influencer Hero Program acceptance is rare to obtain for applicants and issued at sole discretion of Benjamin Scott/Throwsticks.com based on changing business needs and market pressures over time as the program expands and contracts in response.  Our production capacity of our products is inherently limited by the uniquely skilled labor/intensive nature of their production, and we must put the needs of the business first in order to grow and maintain business at consistent, appropriate and sustainable levels.  Our capacity to sell products at discount is limited if it increases demand excessively, as well, and so we may reject a request or allow an ongoing relationship to expire because of many reasons which do not relate whatsoever to the specific influencer requesting from us.  We must maintain the balance of an entire business.  Please be understanding of this reality.  We get many requests because most people these days have some influence, but we cannot grant discounts to most applicants.

The rules for those who qualify for the Influencer Hero Program are as follows.

  1. Entry into this program is obtained by mutual agreement of both parties and the issuance of discount codes which offer the obtaining of Throwsticks.com products at reduced costs in exchange for attempted effective promotions which both parties agree upon.

  2. In entering this relationship the influencer is giving Throwsticks.com their word to utilize the products purchased to do social media or other agreed upon promotions within the following three months from date of purchase.

  3. The influencer may not purchase sticks utilizing discount codes for purposes of resale.

  4. The influencer ensures they will continue to utilize ongoing purchases which specifically utilize codes for continued promotions.

  5. The influencer promises to not give out their discount codes to others for use by others, as those sales will be rejected.  Throwsticks.com is sole issuer of the codes.  Discount codes use is tracked on our webstore and codes will be updated if they become compromised through use by parties they are not issued to, thus excluding the original influencer associated with that code from further use.

  6. Influencers will clearly disclose in their promotions that they receive our products at a discount in exchange for promotions. The FTC published a guideline called “Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers.”  Please review this guide and follow it.

  7. Influencers will keep the financial details of their relationship with Throwsticks.com professional and private, offering transparent disclosure to the public that it exists, but no specific details given about the financial relationship, such as discount percentage rates, product purchase limits or expiration dates.

  8. The specific current offer made to an individual influencer may vary from that of another influencer due to numerous and diverse factors.  Keep the specific relationship confidential also from other influencers and realize that it may be renewed, upgraded, changed or ended as codes will be set to expire at a stated time at commencement of relationship, or new codes issued in the future in exchange for other specific promos and achievements.

  9. Failure to comply with the above may result in revocation of discounts and relationship.
