We have been honored to work with Matt Graham to bring this high performing design into our lineup. Matt is a skilled primitive hunter with decades of experience making and hunting with bows, atlatls and boomerangs. He's been the featured survivalist on multiple TV shows and has a large following throughout the world. After many months of collaborative development back and forth, the Bana Bush Stick is now perfected! A hybrid design made from the same ultra tough, premium polycarbonate as all our other models, it is based in a South Western pattern which Matt has long admired. Due to its double curve, it has enhanced torque and stability, allowing for extremely flat and straight flights which in skilled hands can only described as "laser like." It also features a fully turbulated airfoil in a folded or zig zag pattern, a flight distance which may exceed 100 yards, and a flared head for tool and club use in the field.
The Bana Bush Stick is a bit heftier than the Karli and a bit lighter than the Central Desert Hunter. If you've been looking for something premium which fits the bill between these two top models, this is it. With the extra torque and stability built into the design due to its double curve it is extremely forgiving of new throwers, and yet this also gives it the precision that advanced throwers want for long ranged targeting. The double curve further gives it an enhanced ground slider capacity on appropriate surfaces, as can be seen at the end of our film.
When we were filming we found that the Bana Bush Stick resists deep penetration into brush due to its double curve, allowing for easy retrieval. This was useful in terrain with low trees and shrubs, to avoid over penetration, and we never lost a stick while filming despite many long ranged throws executed in rough terrain.
Many have inquired with us about making an Egyptian design over the years.... Well the BBS is reminiscent also of the throwsticks featured in the Procession of the Aamu, which appears on the north wall of the tomb of Khnumhotep II at Beni Hasan, (a Middle Kingdom necropolis in Egypt). This mural dates to around 1892 BCE, during the reign of Pharaoh Sesostris II of the Twelfth Dynasty. That's 4000 years ago!
Pre-Launch Reviewer: "Amazing, the Bana Bush Sticker has nearly the range of the CDH from my testing, about 180 meters with mild tailwind. I’ve reached approximately 185-190 with the CDH, with a tailwind " M. Bauer, Iowa, USA
